A WRITE HAND
An author, writing
mentor, and
conference
speaker, I am an award-winning, internationally published freelance
communicator.
I
write for Christian and general
(secular) markets. My first book, "A Student's Guide to Toni
Morrison," released January 2006 by Enslow Publishers. My second
book, "I Want To Teach My Teen About Money Management," released in October
2006. I've also contributed a chapter on money management for a book
for African American Christian women, and two short pieces for a family
finance book. Both books released October 2009.
As a freelancer, I have
published more than 350 pieces, including features, columns, profiles,
essays, devotionals, book reviews, Bible study guides, and fillers for regional, national and
international markets. I especially enjoy
writing about business, church life (leaders, programming, leadership
development, administration, finances, discipleship issues, etc.), youth, personal finances,
parenting, spirituality, women,
African-American life/culture, and freelance writing.
THE NEED: Most
publishers and content managers (including book packagers) can benefit from the use of freelance writers as an enhancement
to the crop of full-time staffers they employ. This is especially true when
the need arises for a writer to cover assignments in geographical areas
outside of a publisher’s home base. It is also true for projects, including
books, that
swamped staffers cannot fit into their busy schedules.
THE PROVISION:
As a professional writer, I can help you meet these needs. My
specialty/niche topics include Christianity (church life, administration,
church/leader profiles, etc.), money matters (personal, family, church),
youth,
parenting, and African American culture. I am available for routine
— and
select rush —
assignments. And, I may be available to provide coverage for your
corporate, industry, denominational or out-of-state conferences (especially
those held in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area).
THE PAY-OFF:
Your benefits include: (1) drastically reduced expenses (my fees are based
on your already established fee structures); (2) quick and easy access to
exciting feature, filler, news and how-to articles, and other copy; 3)
materials that are well-written and polished; and, (4) ongoing access to one
of the Northeast’s most creative, professional communicators.
My success in the Christian and general markets prove that I
can effectively handle a cross-section of assignments. Over the years,
I have been lauded for my style, creativity, and ability to juggle multiple
assignments with ease. I am skilled in in-person, telephone and email
interviews.
THE REALITY:
It all sounds good, but you probably need samples of my work before hiring me as a
regular contributing writer, columnist or a pinch-hitter. If so, please
contact
me, and I will forward samples via regular mail, e-mail or facsimile
(whichever is best for you).
I stand ready to serve you.
